Haidee Cano, LICSW
Hi there, I am Haidee (pronounced hey-dee). I am a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Confianza Psychotherapy. I specialize in providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, with a focus on supporting adolescents and young adults navigating life transitions, trauma, and identity exploration.
Confianza is a core value that guides both my personal and professional life. In Spanish, confianza means a deep, mutual trust and respect—something I believe is essential in building meaningful relationships and strong communities. I truly value connection, and I know that none of it is possible without trust at the foundation. It would be an honor to be part of your community and to support you in reaching your goals.
My Approach
I’m a social justice-focused therapist committed to providing inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed care. My approach is rooted in the belief that therapy should honor your unique identity, lived experiences, and cultural background. I draw from a strong foundation in evidence-based practices—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—while also integrating expressive arts and mindfulness into our work together.
Background
I grew up in Hialeah, a low-income, predominantly immigrant community in Miami-Dade County, Florida. My parents came to this country from Cuba, chasing the promise of a better life, and I was the first in my family to go to college. As the only daughter, I found myself stepping into many roles from a young age—translator, advocate, caretaker, and the one who held things together at home. I watched my parents work tirelessly and face countless obstacles with strength and grace. At the same time, I saw how isolating and misunderstood mental health could be in our community—how little support there was, and how deeply the stigma ran. Those experiences shaped not only who I am, but also what I feel called to do.
Education & Training
I earned my undergraduate degree in General Theater in 2014, along with a certificate in Arts in Healthcare, from the University of Florida. In 2019, I completed my Master of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University. After graduation, I was honored to join a fellowship in Adolescent and Young Adult Health at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where I expanded my clinical skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), completed advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through The Bridge Institute and Psychwire, and focused on integrating a Health at Every Size (HAES) approach into eating disorder treatment. I also contributed to research at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Trauma and Community Resilience Center.
Since then, I’ve worked in community and immigrant health settings, providing accessible, affirming mental health care to individuals from all walks of life. In 2021, I completed EMDR training to further support clients in their healing from trauma.
In 2024, I founded Confianza Psychotherapy with a simple mission: to make high-quality mental health care more accessible, inclusive, and rooted in trust.
